Akershus Fortress & museums

The Fortress area is open to the public from 6 am to 9 pm. Changing of the guards at 1:30pm.

City Hall

The Oslo City Hall houses the City Council, City administration, and art studios and galleries. Its characteristic architecture, artworks, and the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony makes it one of Oslo's most famous buildings.

Oscarshall

The summer palace of Oscarshall is located on the peninsula of Bygdø in Oslo. The palace was commissioned by King Oscar I and Queen Joséphine, and was completed in 1852. Today it is the property of the state and is placed at the disposal of the King.

Oslo Cathedral

The current Oslo Cathedral is the third cathedral in Oslo, Norway. The first, Hallvards Cathedral, was built by Sigurd I of Norway in the first half of the 12th century

Oslo Opera House

On June 15 1999 the National Assembly (Stortinget) approved the building of a new opera house in Oslo. In 2000, Norwegian architect firm Snøhetta was chosen as winner of the anonymous architectural competition. Groundworks began in 2003, with Statsbygg as property manager.

Stortinget

The Storting (Stortinget, literally "The Big Thing") is the Norwegian Parliament, and is located in the capital city Oslo.

Supreme Court of Norway

In 1895 the Storting voted sums to begin work on the Courthouse which was to house all three court instances: the City Court, the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. An architectural contest was announced, and the results were presented in March 1896. Twenty-three suggestions were submitted, and three prizes were awarded.

The Royal Palace

The Royal Palace in Oslo is open to the public during the summer. Each year a special exhibition is arranged in connection with the guided tours.
